STANZA I

Let us love , and sing , and wonder

Let us love , and sing , and wonder ,

Let us praise the Savior’s name!

He has hushed the Law’s loud thunder,

He has quenched mount Sinai’s flame:

He has washed us with his blood,

He has brought us nigh to God.

No line of this stanza quotes a verse closely; it is the hymn's own confession.

Where Newton found it

Newton printed the hymn under Revelation 2:10.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. REVELATION 2:10 · BEREAN STANDARD BIBLE READ REVELATION 2
