SUMMARY

In the beginning the Word was with God and was God, and all things were made through Him. John is sent from God to testify about the Light; the world does not recognize the true Light and His own do not receive Him, but those who receive Him and believe in His name are given the right to become children of God. The Word becomes flesh, grace and truth come through Jesus Christ, and the one and only Son makes the unseen God known. Questioned by priests and Levites sent from Jerusalem, John denies being the Christ, Elijah, or the Prophet and calls himself a voice in the wilderness. The next day he points to Jesus as the Lamb of God and testifies that he saw the Spirit rest on Him and that He is the Son of God. Two of John's disciples, including Andrew, follow Jesus, and Andrew brings his brother Simon, whom Jesus names Cephas. Jesus calls Philip, who brings Nathanael; Nathanael confesses Him as Son of God and King of Israel, and Jesus promises he will see greater things.

NOTICE Trace how the words "come and see" pass from Jesus to the first disciples and then from Philip to Nathanael.
